Kevin Goldthwaite goes under the knife

Red Bull New York announced today that defender Kevin Goldthwaite underwent successful surgery to remove residual scarring in his adductor tendon. The surgery was performed on Tuesday by Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia. Goldthwaite's recovery time is expected to be six weeks.

Goldthwaite, 27, was acquired from Toronto FC in the middle of the 2007 season and started in 17 games for the Red Bulls in 2009. He was New York's 2008 Defender of the Year after playing in a career-high 28 games, tallying two goals and two assists.
